Arthritis of the Knee
Arthritis of the knee results in a wearing away of the cartilage of the knee. There numerous types of arthritis, with osteoarthritis being the most common form of wear and tear arthritis. Some of the most common symptoms of arthritis are pain, swelling and stiffness.
Arthritis of the knee can be treated through a few different methods. Usually, initial treatment will consist of medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, such as ibuprofen or naproxen, to reduce the inflammation, This may be done in conjunction with physical therapy to strengthen the knee. If this fails to improve the pain, injections of corticosteroids to reduce the inflammation, or synthetic joint fluid to act as a liquid cushion between the bones may be administered.

Total Knee Replacement
If your knee is severely damaged by arthritis or injury, it may be hard for you to perform simple activities, such as walking or climbing stairs. You may even begin to feel pain while you are sitting or lying down.

If nonsurgical treatments like medications and using walking supports are no longer helpful, you may want to consider total knee replacement surgery. Joint replacement surgery is a safe and effective procedure to relieve pain, correct leg deformity, and help you resume normal activities.

Total Hip Replacement
The hip is a ball and socket joint which connects the pelvis bone and the top of the femur (thigh bone). The socket is cushioned by cartilage that enables the joint to move free and easy.
The procedure involves removing the damaged bone and cartilage and replacing it with prosthetic materials.

Meniscus Tear
A Meniscus Tear is a very common knee injury. It is very common among athletes especially ones involved in contact sports. However, it is possible for anyone to tear their meniscus. When you experience a meniscus tear you are likely to feel a pop or click in the knee joint followed by pain, weakness, loss of the range of motion or difficulty standing for prolonged periods of time. Usually, an MRI of the knee will be done to confirm the diagnosis of a meniscal tear and to determine the location of the tear to see if it can be repaired or trimmed out.

ACL Tear
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament is one of the four major knee ligaments detrimental to the stability of the knee. Tearing the ACL is mostly an injury that will take place during sports and 3 out of 4 ACL tears will take place without contact from another athlete. When you injure your ACL, you might hear a popping noise and you may feel your knee give out, and usually, this will be accompanied by severe selling.
Some typical symptoms include:

  • Pain with swelling. (If ignored the swelling may subside. However, if you attempt to return to sports, your knee will probably be unstable and you risk causing further damage to the cushioning cartilage of your knee.)
  • Loss of full range of motion
  • Tenderness
  • Discomfort while walking
